MaxIQ.Space runs a virtual workshop series that makes specialist Space STEM knowledge accessible to schools and the wider space community.

The next workshop explores the role of Earth observation in agriculture and conservation, using two distinctly Southern African case studies: Rooibos cultivation in the Cederberg and the protection of the Southern African coastline.

Participants will explore:
  • How satellites detect vegetation and environmental change
  • The use of multispectral imagery and vegetation indices
  • How Earth observation supports growers and conservation professionals
  • Monitoring shorelines, dunes, estuaries and coastal habitats
  • Why satellite data must be combined with field measurements and local knowledge
The 45-minute live workshop is suitable for Grades 8–12 learners, educators and space industry enthusiasts. No previous Earth observation experience is required.

Date: Wednesday 21st October 2026
Time: 16h00 Central African Time
