Springbot: Locally Made. Globally Relevant. Future Ready.

The Springbot has been developed in South Africa, for South Africa.
Initially aimed to support the implementation of block coding in schools, the Springbot has proved to be far more versatile through application in multiple STEM subjects.
Who is it for? Educators, learners, students, and parents. Anyone who wants a plug-and-play experience with the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Opportunities - we regularly run challenges and curate resources to support those who have the Springbot.
Available in two forms, the Springbot Green with 25 LEDs for onboard display, and the Springbot Gold with an OLED display and RFID functionality.
Springbot is a compact, powerful learning device featuring:
- Locally assembled hardware using the ESP32-S3 microcontroller.
- Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and SD card storage for offline and online projects.
- Sensors on the Springbot board:
- Natural light intensity and RGB range
- Weather sensor collecting air temperature and humidity data
- Accelerometer
- Buzzer
- A range of onboard and plug-in xChip sensors, enabling students to measure and analyse the world around them. Sensors include:
- Sound pressor/microphone
- Atmospheric pressure
- GPS/GNSS
- Volatile organics gas sensor, including CO2
- Soil moisture
- Prototype boards to add more advanced sensors
- A simplified coding environment using block-based and text-based coding, helping beginners and advanced learners alike.
- Rechargeable batteries and durable design for classroom and outdoor learning.
- AI Curriculum Matcher to support teachers and educators with lesson plans, experiments, and rubrics
The development team has ten years of experience in developing modular electronics, with the Springbot being the new addition to the family.
