NASA HAB Mission August each year

MaxIQ Space has secured twenty payloads on the NASA high altitude balloon launch from New Mexico, each year in August.

Sign-up - teams need to sign up before end December each year, those who already have Springbots, MaxIQ Space STEM kits, and participated in previous MaxIQ Space projects are able to access the alumni discount (25%). We are open to bookings for the 2027 project.

Kits - two Springbot flight kits will be shipped to you and your team, so that you may configure and code one for your experiments, and one as a parallel engineering model.

Virtual Workshops - we will schedule and deliver six, sixty minute Teams workshops. These sessions commence in early March each year, and cover the requirements of the project, and give you and your team access to our technical team. Additional workshops will be held once the payloads have returned from the HAB mission, so that we can compare notes and data sets, and prepare for presentations at space industry conferences.

Launch - the launch is in mid-August, from Fort Sumner, New Mexico.

Logistics - When you receive your kits, we will include a container for you to use when shipping the launch-ready kit to us for integration. In addition, all shipping costs will be covered by us, all you'll need to do is attach the shipping label to the package in preparation for collection by the courier.

Experiment deadline - All flight-ready experiments need to be with our team in Cape Town, South Africa by July 15th each year.

Pre-requisites - All participating teams need to be familiar with the MaxIQ Space ecosystem and kits, as our licence with NASA is limited to our hardware.
The minimum requirements are to have completed at least one experiment using the Springbot or STEM kit, and collected data using the SD card interface. For those who do not meet these pre-requisites, we are happy to engage with you directly before the workshops begin, to ensure you are up to speed.

Limited Space -This mission can accommodate twenty payloads, therefore we are limited to twenty groups participating.
