As different age groups of students require different approaches, the support materials will be customized for the school, accommodating three “categories”:
• Grades 8 and 9
• Grades 10-12
All the support materials will be made available on the MaxIQ Space Canvas LMS, and may be imported into a school’s LMS. In some cases, the educators may want to include the lessons and experiments in their curriculum, in other cases the choice may be to tackle the activities in an extramural club.
What does this entail?
MaxIQ Space will customised their international Space STEM program specifically for countries, school levels, and sponsors. Delivery includes virtual teacher and facilitator training, curriculum and challenges relating STEM, space and sustainability, modular electronics kits, workshops and support sessions. All the experiments and exercises build the foundation for the MaxIQ Pathway to Space. Note - this course does not include the ISS project.
Modular electronics kits:
Schools and groups get to keep with kits as they can be fully re-used. These kits are IoT enabled, connect to a data dashboard, and support topics such as data science, coding, big data, and internet of things.
Each group will receive:
- Bundle of ten Space STEM kits
- Two advanced add-on kits with additional sensors
-
TinyGS kit to build a ground station to retrieve satellite data
- Free participation in all MaxIQ Space World Space Week challenges
These kits easily support classes of thirty students, and can be re-used across STEM subjects.
Support content:
As Educators are pressed for time, MaxIQ Space provides support from trained facilitators and easy to use teacher support materials.
- Topics covered include those listed on this page
- Challenges relating to the topics are outlined on this page
(Examples can be found on this page, all content will be securely provided using Canvas LMS).
What's included?
The cost of participation includes all kits outlined above as well as the course material, virtual workshops and support.
It does not include in-person sessions, nor the ISS project.
